Experience & Activities

What is a typical day aboard like?

Breakfast will typically be served at 7am, and you will have some time after to prepare for your first land visit of the day.

You will board a dinghy and motor to the island where you will disembark.  Either a dry landing which will be on a dock, lava rocks or an area that is dry, or a wet landing where you will disembark the dinghy in approximately 2-3 feet of water and walk to the beach. Your guide will tell you when you will have dry and wet landings.

Your land visit will be typically 1 hour.

You will then take the dinghy back to the yacht where you usually will prepare for your 1st snorkel of the day. All snorkels are monitored by your guide and crew.  You will typically have up to an hour of snorkeling, however if you would like to get out, you are able to at anytime and stay in one of the dinghy’s.

You will then return to the yacht for lunch, then possibly some free time, then on to your second land visit. Which you will by taken by dinghy again to the island.

Then return to the yacht to prepare for a second snorkel, then return to the yacht for dinner and a defrief from your guide to go over todays events and tomorrows.

This is a general overview and itineraries may change and vary slightly depending on the locations.

Depending on if you are visiting the Western Islands of Galapagos or the Eastern Islands wildlife can vary. However you are likely to see Giant Galapagos Tortoises, blue footed boobies, marine and land iguanas, lava lizards, tropical fish, rays, reef sharks, frigate birds, penguins, red footed & nazca boobies, waved albatross (April – Dec on Espanola Island), lava gulls, yellow crowned night herons, flamingos, and much more.

OUR HISTORY

More than 45 years ago, Judy Carvalhal set out to explore South America, guided by her curiosity and a degree in Evolutionary Biology. That journey led her to the Galápagos Islands, where everything changed.

Drawn by the extraordinary wildlife and the living story of evolution unfolding around her, Judy became a naturalist guide, sharing the wonders of the islands with the few travelers who made it there at the time. What began as a personal journey quickly grew into a lifelong calling.

Aboard a small sailboat, The Nixie, Judy guided scientists and adventurous travelers through the archipelago, sparking a sense of wonder that would later inspire the creation of Enchanted Expeditions.

Today, Enchanted Expeditions has grown into a boutique, family-run company, with Judy working alongside her children, partners Martin Schreyer and Sergio Bernardi, and dedicated team to carry forward a legacy built on passion, knowledge, and a deep respect for the Galápagos and Ecuador.
